About Us

KINGS COLLEGE LONDON'S OFFICIAL STUDENT-RUN SCIENCE MAGAZINE

Who are we and what we do?

ScienceMind started off as KCL Pharmacologist in October 2020, when a group of students got together to share their passion for Pharmacology. Within the first 6 months of operation, the magazine had released 6 issues and was nominated for “Best Newcomer Publication” by the UK Student Publication Association. As more writers, editors, and designers joined, our scope grew and so did our brand, thus ScienceMind was created.

Since then, our magazine has flourished with coverage of over 30 different STEM fields, including Medicine, Dentistry, Computer science, Physics, Chemistry, Neuroscience, Virology, Business/Law, and many more. We publish articles from on a range of difficulty categories suited for different readership levels – from 6th formers to professional academics.

Our Values:

We are committed to promoting equity and diversity in STEM by revolutionizing how scientific content is consumed.

Our aim is to make science communication more accessible.

We aim to give hands-on experience in science journalism for  enthusiastic young people.

Our Achievements:

ScienceMind has grown from 10 people to 100+ people passionate about science communication within the first 6 months.

In the past 3 years we have been nominated for and won several awards at the Student Publication Awards :-

In March 2021, ScienceMind was nominated for 'Best Specialist Publication'.

In 2022, we won the 1st place for "Best Specialist Publication" and 2nd place for "Best Newcomer Publication" in the UK.

In April 2023 ScienceMind won the "Best Newcomer Publication" and a special mention for best science publication or section.
